It looks like Google might have done it again with another killer app. Google Wave will be coming out later this year. You can view a preview presentation on the Google Wave website. It is a very long video, but I did manage to watch most of it. It looks like it might just be there best and most innovative product to date (barring Google Search). As recessionary fear and paranoia grips businesses in the USA and UK, Google does what Google does best, defies the market and paves its own way. Revenue has soared 42% in the first 3 months of this year from $3.66bn to $5.19bn. Profit has risen to $1.31 million, which is 30% higher than the first quarter of 2007.

Using the 80/20 rule to make more money

The 80/20 rule is an important one in business. Also know as the Pareto principle, the 80/20 rule states that 80% of your sales will come from 20% of your customers.

This rule can be applied to any manor of businesses. In the affiliate marketing world, 80% of your profit might come from 20% of your merchants, or 20% of your websites. In freelance web development, 80% of your revenue might come from 20% of your clients.

Google's increasing profit disappoints

For the last quarter of 2007, Google's profit increased $608 million to $1.21 billion. But yet many analysts are disappointed, expecting Google's profit to increase by even more.

There is something crazy in a market where a relatively young company makes over a billion dollars in profit in 3 months, which is an increase of over 100% and totally dominates its market and analysts are still disappointed. It is no wonder that stock markets get themselves into horrible crashes from time to time.
