Drupal 6 has finally been unleashed on the world after a year of development and testing. This is thanks to the hundreds of core developers that made this happen.

So what has changed from the Drupal 5 series?

News has broke that Microsoft wants to buy Yahoo for $44.6 billion. Yahoo was once the giant of the Internet but has been struggling since the rise of Google. Microsoft, while dominating the operating system and office software markets, has failed to make any sort of dent in the online world.

For the last quarter of 2007, Google's profit increased $608 million to $1.21 billion. But yet many analysts are disappointed, expecting Google's profit to increase by even more.

There have been a few blog posts in the UK Affiliate Marketing world about Commission Junction being a rather rubbish network. So I thought I had might as well join the bandwagon and express my dislike for good old Commission Junction!

One of the worlds biggest open source projects is being bought by one of the worlds biggest and richest software companies. Sun Microsystems is handing over $1 billion dollars to buy the worlds most popular open source database, MySQL.

Using the Pathauto module is a quick and easy way of automatically creating meaningful URL's. Instead of having to type in a URL path manually for each node (page, story etc) yourself, it will do it automatically based on set criteria, like the category it belongs to and the title.

I was very saddened to hear the news this morning that Sir Edmund Hillary has passed away. It is hard to put into words my feelings for this man, but he is nothing short of a hero.

I know I know, its been a few weeks with no blog entries. That is because I have been on holiday! It is the worst possible time of the year for an affiliate to go on holiday, but it was for the wedding of a very dear friend, so a the sacrifice was well worth it. And we had a fantastic time.

One of the annoying things about changing the number of characters for teasers in Drupal is that you have to edit and save every single node (page, story etc) for the change to take effect. Thats ok if you only have 10 pages, but what if you have 1000 or even 10,000 pages? Nightmere times.

The EContent magazine has named Drupal as one of the companies/projects that matter the most to the digital content industry. Drupal joins a range of other companies/projects on the 2007 EContent 100 List.
