Laser Cosmos : A great example of a niche minisite

A friend sent me this site and I was so impressed that I felt compelled to blog about it. So that is my first point about this site, it is great link bait!

The first thing that grabbed me about the site is the unique and stunning design. It is interesting, different and fits in perfectly with the product itself. It is essentially a one page niche mini site that is promoting one single product, a Laser Cosmos.

The trouble with most blogs is that visually they all look very similar. This is particularly true for Wordpress blogs where a lot of people tend to use the same templates. Because Wordpress is such a popular platform, you get a lot of sites looking almost identical. But occasionally I find blogs that are truly unique. Design Bit is one such blog.

Matt Wood and Co have reinvigorated and reinvented Affilates 4 U. Now it is a fully blown community website, rather than being just a forum. It boasts a community section (where you can start or join a community), news & articles (written by members), blogs (feeds from various blogs), events (industry events) and the trusty old forum.

Johan De Silva's use of flash

At long last I have found a website that incorporates Flash without overusing it and turning off visitors.

Web Developer Johan De Silva's website is a HTML based site that embeds Flash into its home page, rather than a fully blown Flash website. I prefer this approach because search engines can not read full Flash sites, they tend to be slower than an HTML based site and are often over "flashy".

I am studios

I have never been a fan of flash sites. A bit of flash is fine to jazz up a site, but I find full flash sites annoying, slow to load and just plain pointless. Combine this with the fact that you are essentially counting yourself out of any decent search engine traffic and you have got an internet disaster on your hands.
